Na Kim explores the relationship between the given structure and found contingency. Collecting objects and events found in daily life and reorganizing them into new orders and rules. After studying product design and graphic design in Korea, Kim participated in Werkplaats Typografie in the Netherlands. Kim is currently based in Berlin and Seoul, and running space, LOOM in Berlin is her project. Kim was selected as Next Generation Design Leaders in 2008, was awarded Doosan Artist Award in 2013, Today’s Young Artist Award in 2014, presented by the Ministry of Culture in Korea. And she became a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale in 2016. In addition, Kim has been a curator for Fikra Graphic Design Biennial, Chaumont Graphic Design Festival, and Typojanchi: Seoul International Typography Biennale, International Biennale of Graphic Design Brno. Besides many other projects, she was responsible for the concept and design of GRAPHIC magazine from 2009 till 2011 and has initiated series projects based on her monograph, SET since 2015. She has held solo exhibitions, such as Transitory Workplace, 56, 2020; Bottomless Bag, 2020; Black and White, 2019; Extended Abstracts, 2019; Red, Yellow, Blue, 2017; SET, 2015; Choice Specimen, 2014; Found Abstracts, 2011. Kim’s works have been invited to many international exhibitions at Lisbon Architecture Triennale, 2019; Gwangju Design Biennale, 2019; DDD Gallery, Kyoto, 2018; Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, 2017; Kukje Gallery, 2016; National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, 2013; Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 2013; The Museum of Modern Art, New York, 2012; Milan Triennale Museum, 2011; and so on. And her works were collected at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea; Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris; and Die Neue Sammlung, Munich.
